[F-2] 1/72 Aichi B7A2 "Grace"

Experience the formidable Japanese Navy Carrier Attack Bomber Ryusei, known by its Allied reporting name "Grace," with this 1/72 scale model kit from Fujimi. This aircraft was a groundbreaking design, intended to replace both the Nakajima B6N "Jill" torpedo bomber and the Yokosuka D4Y "Judy" dive bomber by combining their roles into one highly capable platform. The Aichi B7A2 was notably the largest and heaviest carrier-based attack aircraft developed by Japan during World War II.

Designed for a new class of larger aircraft carriers, the "Grace" featured a distinctive inverted gull-wing configuration, which allowed for a large diameter four-bladed propeller and an internal bomb bay while maintaining a practical landing gear length. Powered by the robust Nakajima Homare 12 radial engine, the B7A2 boasted exceptional performance and maneuverability, even rivaling contemporary Zero fighters. Despite its advanced capabilities, including the ability to perform dive, level, and torpedo bombing missions, its production was limited to around 100-114 units due to wartime disruptions and the loss of the carriers it was designed to operate from. Most of these powerful aircraft ultimately saw service from land bases in the final stages of the war.
